About a years or so ago I decided to research the history of maces and clubs used in battle.
It’s pretty amazing what I found.
Some records show them being used by warriors thousands of years ago in Egypt, Persia, and India.
They were used in medieval times around the 10th century.
In world War I clubs were used for for fighting in trenches.
Nowadays we swing maces and clubs for strength and fitness, often using the same types of movements used in battle.
There is a direct carry-over from mace and club training to self-defense in modern times.
Whether it means striking an attacker with what ever you have at hand or just having more powerful punches.
Rotational strength is a vital aspect of overall athleticism as well as survival itself.
Hopefully you won’t have to fight someone to save your life today, but it’s always good to be prepared.
Just a few thoughts to start your week with.
