Unless you are really young, you have heard the expression, “having a monkey on your back”.
So what is that proverbial monkey?
It could be anything that knaws at you and disrupts your daily life.
Maybe it’s a bad relationship, drug or alcohol addiction, smoking, obesity, being out of shape, or something else.
It’s got you bad you feel stuck with it.
This is for a friend, of course.
So let’s say the monkey is obesity or being out of shape.
Since New Years is right around the corner, the resolutions will start soon and people will fall prey to all sorts of quick fixes, silver bullets,
hype, gimmicks, and hacks.
Probably billions of dollars will be wasted on these things.
People get desperate and will try most anything.
The might loose 20-30lbs really fast doing some crazy, risky diet.
Then they feel like the monkey is off their back.
Here’s the catch.
They’ll gain it all back and then some.
Comedian George Carlin once said, “Just because the monkey’s off your back, doesn’t mean the circus has left town.”
You see the monkeys are daily habits, bad ones.
The good news is if you are willing and disciplined enough to change your daily habits for the long term,
the monkey is off for good.
So save a friend from the monkeys and have a
Merry Christmas.
