Great question! The answer is yes, though real maces and clubs are much better, like Adex, since you can change the weights on them.
So take a look and see what you do have that you can use to start learning with. For pressing or pulling movements that do not go over or near your head you can use a loadable dumbbell and just put a small weight on one end only.
If you are doing an isometric hold that calls for a mace, you can take a light barbell and put some weight on one end.
Unlike an Adex mace or club, which have very slim profiles, 10 lb plates are much wider so be very careful.
You can also do 360’s and 300’s using sledge hammers. They come in different weights and handle lengths.
The short ones can be as light as 3lb. The regular size sledge hammers run 8-12lb.
Definitely start with a light sledge hammer until you get the movements down well.
The one safety concern you will have with sledge hammers is which way the head of it is facing.
Hitting yourself in the head is not recommended!
