The phrase “functional fitness” has been around for quite a few years.
So, what kind of function are they talking about?
People who have done hard manual labor know what real functional fitness is.
Most people nowadays have never done any manual labor ever.
How many functional fitness gurus could go out and hang drywall all day?
How about cutting trees?
Do masonry work?
Do landscaping?
Do roofing?
Dig footers?
Cut their own lawn?
Probably most would utterly fail in an hour or two.
I bet they have really strong thumbs for texting, though.
They probably couldn’t change a flat tire, and they’d just call AAA.
Here’s some things you can do if you haven’t been blessed to manual laborer.
Train with Atlas stones, barbell, sandbags, kegs, tires, sledgehammers, steel maces and clubs.
Do bodyweight exercises like pullups, dips, pushups, squats, and lunges.
Get mentally tough and your body will follow.
