I’m sure you’ve heard all kinds of stuff about reversing the aging process. It might some weird supplement, a celebrity workout, or something a guy in a white lab coat, aka a fake doctor, hyping some other nonsense. The truth is, the clock is not running backwards. We can’t change the how fast time goes. Eventually we are out of time, for good. So how should we live in the meantime? I believe we should have highest quality of life possible for as long as we can. A big part of that is exercise. We are all fighting sarcopenia (muscle wasting) which starts in our late 30’s. Weight training is the best way to do that. Barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, steel maces & clubs can help add muscle. Sometimes your body is the weight you are lifting or pushing. Pushups, pullups, dips, chin-ups, squats and lunges are all effective exercises. Another thing is to keep your brain healthy, since it can atrophy like your muscles. Keep learning, reading, studying, writing, learning, or challenging your mind to think. Exercise can also help with that as long as you don’t do the same old thing over and over again. When you do reach the end of your days many years from now, you’ll know you gave it 100% along the way. That’s quality of life. Coach D |
